Bright Happy Butterflies Card

Hello!

I apologize for not getting a post out last week.  I just didn’t have any cards to share, but since then I’ve been busy creating while L tugs insistently at my pant legs.  We’ve had a bout of the flu to deal with, and my fingers are tightly crossed against it being passed on to me or L.

Last week I thought I was doing so well fitness-wise, with 3 days of exercise in a row.  Since then things have gotten a bit crazy and I haven’t done anything. Nothing, for nearly a whole week.  That’s not the right trend to be starting.  A run tomorrow? I think so!

I got my shipment of new stamps from the spring mini catalogue, as well as from Sale-a-bration.  They’re all so great!!! I’m in love with so many things – that sale-a-bration butterfly and sentiment set (Bloomin’ Marvelous), that Designer Series Paper (Sycamore Street DSP), and especially that Honeycomb embossing folder!

The best part? You can get so many things for free with Sale-a-bration right now!  Just host a successful workshop, or get a free item with every $60 you spend (pre-tax/shipping).

Materials:
Whisper White and Island Indigo Cardstock, Sycamore St. DSP.
Tangerine Tango, Island Indigo, and Rich Razzleberry inks.
Bloomin’ Marvelous Stamp set, Sycamore St. Ribbon & button pack (buttons).
Big Shot and Honeycomb Textured Impressions embossing folder, and Linen Thread.

Happy Birthday Owl Card and Gift Bag

Hello!

I took a week off.  I feel like I earned it times a million, after our crazy Christmas and New Years!  Plus, I’m back to work.  What?! Yeah.. part time, but it definitely changes things up a lot for me.  I suddenly have to think about what to pack for lunches, and what to leave for L’s lunch.  I have to make sure the diaper bag’s always stocked, and that I have all my teaching supplies in my own bag.

I’ve enjoyed my days back.  I finally get to use a different part of my brain!  It’s been great getting back into speaking French a lot of the time and interacting with older students.  Plus, coming home to a little cutie who has the world’s biggest grin is amazing!

We’ve had a few 1st birthday parties to attend in the last little bit.  Here’s a card I made for one of L’s little boy friends.  I just love the Summer Starfruit with those blues.  So pretty, and I never thought I’d like it with anything!

Materials:
Pool Party, Whisper White, and Crumb Cake Cardstock. Print Poetry DSP
Summer Starfruit, Island Indigo, and Midnight Muse inks
Owl Occasions, Woodgrain, and Teeny Tiny Wishes stamps
Big Shot, Woodgrain Textured Impressions Folder, Bitty Banners Die, and Apothecary Accents Framelits Die.

Seasonal Snowflakes Card

Hello!

Happy New Year to you! 2013 is looking great from where I’m perching on my computer chair.  Major housecleaning still needs to happen, but that’s besides the point.  I’m heading back to work part-time, and am really looking forward to getting back into teaching!  Luckily L’s been enjoying spending days with her aunty, so there’s not too much drama there.

We had a great Christmas full of family and friends and many late nights (yawn).  Now I start my test of how long the tree stays up.  I can’t be bothered to take down the prettiness of sparkly Christmas lights, so it all depends on when Nathan’s driven to it.  For him, it seems to be a balance between not wanting to do the chore, and being sick of all this Christmas stuff.  He’s got a strong chore aversion ;-)  I think last year it was late January/early February before the tree came down!

In that spirit, I have one last holiday card to share with you.  I just love the elegance and simplicity of these snowflakes.  This card only takes about 5 minutes to make!

Materials:
Whisper White and Pool Party Cardstock.
Pool Party, Gumball Green, and Basic Black inks.
Snowflake Soiree Stamp Set.
Ticket corner punch (disc), and Pearls.

I hope you’ve had a very merry Christmas!  We’re jumping head first into the fun of Christmas with a young one.  She’s a bit young to really know what’s going on, but she knows all the fun is in the presents (the boxes, ribbons, wrapping paper, and bows).  It’s fun!

Materials:
Whisper White and Raspberry Ripple DSP.  Gumball Green DSP.
Gumball Green, Raspberry Ripple, and Midnight Muse inks.
No Peeking and Owl Occasions Stamp sets.
Corner rounder and scallop border punches.

Glittery Stars Christmas Card

Heyya!

The days are ticking on.  Cookies are baked, cups of hot chocolate have been drunk, and the eggnog’s just right around the corner there.  I’ve even wrapped a bunch of gifts!  Hopefully I’ll be done my shopping in time for the big day!

Now all we need is some snow.. but only the kind that sticks around to look pretty for a few hours, then disappears as soon as anyone needs to drive anywhere.. cuz let’s be honest, Victoria can’t handle snow!

Materials:
Gumball Green, Whisper White, and Raspberry Ripple cardstock.  Silver Glimmer Paper.
Whisper White ink.
Teeny Tiny Wishes and Distressed Dots stamps.
Scallop border punch and Merry Minis Punch Pack.
Whisper White baker’s twine.

Merry Merry Snowman

I’m still not feeling super “Christmassy.” What does that mean?  I’m not exactly sure.  I don’t feel like Scrooge, but I don’t feel like I’m buzzing with festive spirit like I usually would be this time of year.  Maybe I just need to crank some Christmas carols.  It’s times like these that I wish Pandora were available in Canada!

So to work on creating some holiday cheer, I made a jolly little card with a lively little snowman!

Materials:
Whisper White and Garden Green Cardstock. Candlelight Christmas Specialty DSP.
Basic Black and Real Red Inks.
No Peaking and Pennant Parade Stamp Sets.
Big Shot and Labels Collection Framelits Dies.
1 3/4” Scallop Circle Punch, 1 1/4”Circle Punch, 1/16” punch.
Marina Mist Ribbon.

Elegant Snowflakes Card

Well, the blissful childcare situation has definitely been an adjustment for all of us.  It turns out that L is NOT ok with being with anyone else if mom’s around too.  We’re talking an epic 10/10 on the tantrum scale.. all. day. long.  So no, I didn’t get anything done last week.

We’ve discovered that things go much better if they leave the house.  Then there’s a happy baby.  Who knew a change of scenery could cheer a person up? (ok, someone’s been saying that for years).  So hopefully I can get a start on my Christmas shopping and baking!  I’ll ignore the house organizing for a while longer yet.

Here’s another Christmas card to inspire you.  I love these colours.  I think it makes it nice and elegant!

Materials:
Whisper White, Pool Party, Early Espresso, and Crumb Cake Cardstock. Candlelight Christmas Specialty DSP.
Early Espresso Ink.
Snowflake Soiree Stamp Set.
Big Shot and Snow Flurry Bigz Die.
Scallop Border Punch and corner rounder punch.
Designer Printed Brads.

Merry Christmas Little Penguin

Freeeeeeedom!

I feel like a kid who just got off for Christmas holidays, or someone who won the lottery and now has to figure out how to spend all that cash (and not too foolishly).  My cash is free time.  We got ourselves a nanny for when I go back to work, and are transitioning into it a bit early, which means that I have non-work time without the baby!

What should I do with my days?  I had big plans, where did they go?  I’m pretty sure some of that cleaning can wait until later, as I’ve got lots of sleeping to do!

On the agenda for today:  Make beans, pizza, and raspberry jam.  Put up the Christmas tree. Get groceries.  Make cards. Sleep.  Oh yes, sleep.  I will cherish every extra moment of time that I get, which I’m sure will help me to cherish my time with L even more.

This little penguin card reminds me a bit of L, all bundled up for a snow day.

Materials:
Whisper White and Lucky Limeade Cardstock. Floral District DSP.
Basic Black, Lucky Limeade, Real Red, and Baja Breeze Inks.
No Peaking and Owl Occasions Stamp Sets.
Corner rounder and scallop border punches.

Clean and Simple Christmas Ornaments Card

The house, it’s in shambles.  You should see under our stairs!  So much is packed there, it’s like a teenager’s bed, but nothing’s actually hidden.  There are workout bands, weights, backpacks, camping chairs, diapers, baby clothes, things to donate.. Something exciting for folks of all ages!

Next week I will tackle under the stairs because next week we have a part-time nanny!  Oh yes, it will be grand.  I have so many things with which to fill up my time.. Sleep should probably be on that list, but we’ll see.

Here’s a quick Christmas card, for anyone who doesn’t get the joys of a part-time nanny!

Materials:
Whisper White Cardstock.
Lucky Limeade, Primrose Petals, Island Indigo, and Basic Black Inks.
Big Shot, Ornament Keepsakes Framelits Dies.
Ornament Keepsakes and Greetings of the Season Stamp Sets.

PS: the little turquoise ornament is popped up with a double layer of Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Jolly Christmas Card

Rain, wind, chilly nights.  Coats, umbrellas, rubber boots.  Sweaters, tuques, and mittens.  Yup, the wintery weather has arrived, and I now have to bundle up the little one whenever we leave the house.  The really tricky part is having to put her warm clothes on her after we’ve arrived at our destination, with the rain pouring down, as kidlets can’t wear bulky clothing in a carseat.  The result is generally a very wet mom and a mostly dry L.

How do other moms do it?  Is there a way to somehow carry an umbrella as well as all the baby paraphernalia? Should I suck it up and get some good quality rain gear? What to do?  Make cards. That solves everything.

I’m liking these colours right now.  Crisp, clean, modern.

Materials:
Whisper White, Gumball Green, and Tempting Turquoise cardstock. Real Red DSP, and Silver Glimmer Paper.
Whisper White Ink. Real Red, and Gumball Green Stampin’ Write Markers.
Distressed Dots stamp, and No Peeking Stamp set.
Scallop Border Punch, Ribbon Border Punch, Decorative Label Punch, Perfect Polka Dots Folder, and Big Shot.

Shimmery Snowflakes Card

The munchkin can move!  (Very slowly).  No panicking yet.  I can leave her for a few minutes and she’s only gotten into half the bad things, not all the bad things.  She does this totally hilarious suction-cup-hands crawl, flat on her belly.  It’s not fast, but it does the trick.

Due to the moving baby, Nathan has made a small (ok, VERY small) attempt at babyproofing things.  He’s made a little cardboard blockade around all of our TV goodies.  That’s right, no more Wii controls for the bean!  This leaves me with a few more seconds to do things like make cards!  And play with shimmer.. who doesn’t love shimmer?

Materials:
Real Red, Lucky Limeade, and silver glimmer paper; Candlelight Christmas DSP.
Whisper White ink
Greetings of the Season Stamp Set.
Big Shot and Snow Flurry Bigz Die, Scallop Trim Border Punch, Rhinestone Basic Jewels, and Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint.

Clean and Simple Party Hats

Never mind the laundry couch… Something bigger has taken over our living room.  Nathan got a ping pong table.  He’s been wishing for a table ever since he first set eyes on our ginormous living room.  The space is one big massive oval.  We have a normal cozy setup (couches, coffee table, TV, fireplace) on one side.. and now a ping pong table on the other side.  So yes, I now have a ping pong table taking up much of my living room.  We’re crazy like that.

The foosball table has been displaced to the office.  To make this possible, Nathan had a ping pong/foosball table moving party, which involved all the strong boys.  They hauled that crazy heavy foos table up a curvy staircase and a long narrow walkway, huffing and puffing the whole way.  The reward was about 16 million games of ping pong.  They were still playing long after I went to bed.

And now, to keep my “awesome wife” status, I must play a game every now and then.  Of course, I usually let Nathan win ;-)

Here’s a boy card, for the boys!

Materials:
Whisper White, Lucky Limeade, Early Espresso Cardstock.  Early Espresso, Lucky Limeade inks.
Early Espresso Baker’s Twine.
Owl Occasions and Create a Cupcake stamp sets
Scallop Border Punch

Masculine Birthday gifts Card

Hi there,

How are you dealing with the time change?  I never thought much of it, other than cursing the darkness that comes sooner than it needs to in fall and winter.  Can’t we just keep daylight savings year-round?

Now, with a baby, I’m much more aware of the little effects of setting the clocks back an hour.  Even though we put Lila to bed an hour later, she hasn’t figured out that she should also wake up an hour later.  Ummm, someone write her a memo.  Thanks!  On top of this, she’s added an extra wakeup, and is usually down to one nap per day.  This makes for one frazzled mama.

During nap times I make cards!  Like this one.  It’s great for boys, hence the boy colours and texture.

Materials:
Whisper white and Soft Suede cardstock, In Color DSP, Soft Suede, Basic Black, Calypso Coral, and Island Indigo Inks.
Owl Occasions stamp set.
Button, Linen Thread, BigShot, and Square Lattice Folder.
